The prices of carbon steel medium-heavy plate in South Europe keep surging gradually by local mills owing to booming global steel market. So far, the ex-work price in Italy is around USD 690 per tonne.

The price of imported slab in Europe also hikes by USD 20 per tonne to about USD 530 per tonne FOB Black Sea at present. However, it is expected that the prices in South Europe would be revised by high stocks of medium-heavy plates piled up in harbors that were purchased with low prices since last October and November. Additionally, the offer price is reported around EUR 635 per tonne CIF.
