It is reported that on March 28th, participants of 2010 Hebei Metallurgical Industry Association Council visited Tang Steel of Hebei Iron and Steel Group.
　　
　　In the context of global financial crisis Tang Steel chose the low carbon development path and has completely subverted the traditional dirty and chaotic image of steel enterprises. Representatives and experts all marveled at the garden like Tang Steel.
　　
　　On the way of economic development, excessive focus on the GDP growth may lead ignorance of the energy consumption. Mr. Xiao Chunquan, Deputy Secretary of Monitoring and Coordination Bureau of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China also expressed concern about the high energy consumption.
　　
　　Mr Wang Dayong Secretary General of Hebei Metallurgical Industry Association said “By doing this we can reduction of carbon dioxide emissions alone will be more than 1.8 million tonnes. Steel enterprises should pay more attention to energy saving and emission reduction taking the environment friendly path.”
　　
　　As a successful example Tang Steel has saved energy 556,000 tonnes through restructuring reducing emissions of carbon dioxide 1,112,000 tonnes becoming the pioneer of the implementation of low carbon economy. Mr Wang VP of Tang Steel said “This year, Tang Steel will realize generation by recovered gas and steam power.”
　　
　　Mr. Li Yumin from Hebei Industry and Information Technology Department said China will increasingly support energy saving pollution reduction and low carbon development.
　　
　　Mr Wang Yifang suggested that “Steel enterprises could also sign energy management contract with energy saving companies or strive for financial and technical support of developed countries through CDM.”
　　
　　However as the Chinese top steel producing province, Hebei sees unusually arduous pressure in energy reduction and elimination of backward capacity. Thus an elimination of 10 million tonnes backward capacity goal has been set earlier this year.
